Supetar - the best option

Supetar Impression

The island of Brač is one of the many Croatian islands. Probably the most important place on the island is undoubtedly Bol for its famous Zlatni Rat beach. In addition to it, there are more villages and settlements on the island, which, like Bol, offer good options and ideal conditions for spending a summer vacation.

Trajektna luka – Supetar

Supetar lies directly opposite the city of Split. The ferry goes here regularly and you have no problem getting here at any time. If you miss one ferry, just wait a while and the next one will arrive. This small town is the largest settlement on the island of Brač, it is something like its center. It has roughly 4,000 inhabitants.

The trips on our vacation in Split were already thought out and booked, and yet we still had some free days left. "Šta čemo?" (what are we going to do?) We walked around the port of Split several times a day, and on the departures board, Supetar was mentioned in every other row at any hour. "Ajmo tamo" (let's go there). Since it is better for us to travel by sea than by bus, and the trip was only supposed to take a little more than 45 minutes, why not.

In the morning, when we went to the port to catch our ferry, we were just saddened by the weather, which was clouding over us the whole time. We got on the ferry with the expectation that it will be as it will be and if it starts to rain, we will jump on the ferry back. The journey really took less than an hour.

You can get to Supetar quickly and without problems

Supetar has a small port, where a larger ferry can also arrive. People often go here on vacation. It is easily accessible, beautiful and certainly has better prices than BolSo the ferries are really huge and they also carry a lot of cars. During the ascent, the specter of bad weather was still watching over us. For now, we decided to look at thetrg s crkvom sv. Petra" (a local square with the church of St. Peter), to buy a few small things, which we happily ate on a bench with a view of the ferries.

The sea was still not suitable for swimming, we judged by the number of locals in the water. We decided to at least check out the local beaches and maybe stop somewhere for lunch in case of rain. Our goal was the mausoleum on the opposite promontory. It looked like a half hour break at a slow pace.

The number of locals in the sea testified to its temperature

Unlike other promenades leading to the beaches, this entire path is naturally surrounded by restaurants and bars, smaller paths in the middle of trees and Mediterranean vegetation, but it all looks very friendly and non-violent. There isn't much here. The trees provide a pleasant coolness, everyone can find their own piece of beach. So we crossed Vlačica beach and headed to Punta beach, which is the most popular. It is located in a pleasant bay and, like everywhere else, there are plenty of trees.

No busy promenade, but a beautiful path surrounded by trees

Since the sun has stuck out some of its teeth and what kind of vacation is it in a place if you don't try the sea even once, we decided to go to Punta. The first vacationers, who had a similar intention as us, also peeked out. We sat down under the trees and I ran in to taste the local sea. It was icy. So I concluded that the task is accomplished and I don't have to undertake it anymore. Well, what wouldn't you do for that feeling...

Our next destination was the still small mausoleum in the local cemetery and the ancient ruins directly below it. Supetar is also not very rich in cultural and historical monuments. In addition to the central square, which is really tiny and a few huge cats basking on the hot pavement, there are many beaches..

The town has quite a high number of inhabitants and settlements by the standards of this island. It also stretches uphill. From the local bell tower, you can see a number of small villas scattered on all sides. The overall impression of this resort is not spoiled by hotel resorts and noisy discos. Everything is here in just the right measure and enough of everything. It has a convenient location, close to Split and you can rent a car here and go around the whole island.

Supetar is the best option, neither big nor small. Neither noisy nor too quiet. Neither half empty nor full. Just enough.. Island holidays are generally a bit different than mainland holidays. In some places you can feel like you are at the end of the world and enjoy just that. Supetar is quite lively and great from a logistical point of view. So, if you are fed up with vacations in the same places and would like to try something different, but still Croatian, go to the island of Brač and taste the atmosphere of this charming resort.

Who could resist?
