Kruja - What would Skanderbeg say to his town today?

Kruja Impression

Who knows the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg1certainly knows that his name is associated with the city Krujawhere Skanderbeg was born. Under his leadership, the city resisted Ottoman siege for 25 years. Unfortunately, after Skanderbeg's death, Kruja was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire.

Kruja is located about 30 km from Tirana (https://a-trips.sk/tirana/). It is easily accessible from any major city by local transport. In the beginning I hesitated to really go, but it was worth it and I can tell you that the transportation was trouble-free.

Golem - is part of the Albanian city of Durres. When you head from the center along Rruga Pavaresia to the south, you will pass through Arapaj, Shkallnur, to Golem, alongside Shkëmbi and Kavajes, to Mali i Robit. All these parts are overcrowded with hotels, restaurants and everythingtourists need during their stay.

Apollonia and Epidamnos - settlements of ancient ancestors

Apollonia & Epidamnos Impression

If we were in Durres about zhruba 3,000 years ago, we would find the Illyrian tribes of the Taulants and the Parthians. They are indigenous people of this territory. The first written references appear in the 7th century BC from ancient authors. The existence of this city we owe the Greeks, whose arrival in this area was part of the so-called great colonization. They wanted to eliminate overcrowding and lack of land. Its origins date back to 628 - 627 BC when they founded the village of Epidamnos (now Durres) and 39 years later in 588 BC Apollonia. Then followed Buthroton (today Butrint) and Orikon (today Oricum), which are originated at the turn of the 6th and 5th century BC.
